چکیده

Objectives: Opioid pain medication is most commonly prescribed after distal radius fracture fixation, and there high variability in the quantity duration prescribed. Comorbidities including substance use depression have been associated with higher consumption habits increased sizes of postoperative opioid prescriptions has previously linked to increasing risk chronic disorder. The purpose this study was investigate prescription patterns fixation identify patient specific factors for consumption. Methods: A retrospective review 34,629 opioid-naïve patients conducted. Demographic, comorbidity, complication data pharmacy claims were analyzed. Patients sorted according number refills medication. Results: Seventy-three percent required no additional outside perioperative window. Twenty refill 6.4% continued fill beyond 6-months postoperatively. Multiple medical surgical complications, use, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity. longer postoperatively had rates complications. Perioperative quantities 62.9, 78.6, 83.3 tablets No Refill, Prolonged Use groups, respectively. Conclusions: Many patient-specific prolonged can be identified prior prescribing management. at targeted alternative management options. Surgeons should take a more approach fixation. Distal ulna hook plate fixation for unstable distal ulna fracture associated with distal radius fracture.

The significance of distal ulna fractures is often undermined, which can result in inadequate treatment compared with fractures of the radius, the ulna's larger counterpart. However, little guidance exists in the current literature on how to manage distal ulna head or neck fractures and intra-articular ulna head fractures. Therefore, the purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the o...

Economic Analysis of Bisphosphonate Use after Distal Radius Fracture for Prevention of Hip Fracture

Background: Osteoporosis is a common condition among the elderly population, and is associated with an increased risk of fracture. One of the most common fragility fractures involve the distal radius, and are associated with risk of subsequent fragility fracture. Early treatment with bisphosphonates has been suggested to decrease the population hip fracture burden. However, there have been no p...

Distal radius nonunion after volar locking plate fixation of a distal radius fracture: a case report

We describe a 59-year-old man who had nonunion of a right distal radius fracture after volar locking plate fixation. He underwent open reduction and internal fixation with a volar locking plate system for a dorsally displaced, unstable distal radius fracture at a previous hospital 5 months ago. Radiographs of the injured wrist showed nonunion of the distal radius with 1.5-mm ulnar minus varianc...

Bicortical K-wires for distal radius fracture fixation: how many?

The aim of this study was to find out whether number and position of K-wires influence the stability of distal radius fractures treated by percutaneous wire fixation. Patients who underwent K-wire fixation for unstable fractures of the distal radius over a period of three years were included in this retrospective study. Radiographs taken immediately after the procedure and radiographs taken aft...
